Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Interlocal Agreement providing for the administration of a Joint County/Municipality Economic Development Program.
Background Information
The following provides a chronological order of events regarding the processing of the Economic Development Interlocal Agreement:
> September 5, 2019: During the North Port City Commission Special Meeting, the Commission approved the draft Agreement as presented with a two-word amendment adding the language "and municipalities" to a graphic on page 3. The motion also directed the Agreement be brought back to the Commission in final format for approval.
> March 2020: City staff resubmitted the approved draft Agreement approved by the North Port City Commission with the requested language amendment to Sarasota County for circulation and approval by the other participating municipalities (City of Venice, City of Sarasota, and Town of Longboat Key). Sarasota County staff confirmed that on March 9, 2020, the circulation was completed with no objections to the draft Agreement approved by the North Port City Commission.
> April 14, 2020: During the North Port City Commission Regular Meeting, the Commission approved the Interlocal Agreement. The Commission made a motion that no payment be issued until the Agreement has been signed by all parties and the City Manager and City Commission have received a copy of the signed Agreement. Subsequent to approval of the Interlocal Agreement being granted by the North Port City Commission, Sarasota County and the other participating municipalities prepared revisions to the Interlocal Agreement.
