TITLE: Utilize the Florida Sheriff's Association & Florida Association of Counties Cooperative Bid No. FSA16-VEH14.0, Spec #14 to purchase two (2) replacement Dump Trucks for the Department of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, from Rush Truck Center in the amount of $246,668.00

Recommended Action

Approve the utilization of the Florida Sheriff's Association & Florida Association of Counties Cooperative Bid No. FSA16-VEH14.0, Spec #14 to purchase two (2) replacement Dump Trucks for the Department of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, from Rush Truck Centers of Florida, Inc. in the amount of $246,668.00.

Background Information

The Department of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, has two 2006 dump trucks (CIDs 70803 and 70804) that are identified for replacement. This determination is based on Fleet Management's replacement policy and recommendation due to the fact the vehicles are past their useful life criterion, current mileage, life-to-date maintenance and repair costs, overall condition, and expected reliability. During the fiscal year 2017 budget process, two other dump trucks were planned for replacement, CIDs 71389 and 71390. However, during the past several months, CIDs 70803 and 70804 have deteriorated to the point that has warranted replacing those two trucks this year. Replacement of CIDs 71389 and 71390 will be deferred and these two trucks will be used sparingly.

The new dump trucks will be used within the Operations and Maintenance Division for hauling dirt, rock and other debris.
