TITLE: Contract No. 2018-02 with E.T. MacKenzie of Florida, Inc. for the Spring Haven Drive Reclaimed water pipeline project, in the amount of $421,916.25 plus a 10% contingency amount of $42,192.00, for a total amount of $464,108.25. This project was approved in the fiscal year 2015 budget.


Recommended Action

Approval of Contract 2018-02 between the City of North Port and E.T. MacKenzie of Florida, Inc. for the construction of the Spring Haven Drive Reclaimed water pipeline project in the amount of $421,916.25 plus a 10% contingency amount of $42,192, for a total amount of $464,108.25. This project was approved in the fiscal year 2015 budget.

Background Information

The approved Reclaimed Phase 3 project includes design and construction of a segment of reclaimed water main on Spring Haven Drive between West Price Boulevard and Pan American Boulevard. The Contractor will install a new 12-inch diameter reclaimed water distribution line to loop existing reclaimed water lines on Spring Haven Drive. The Spring Haven Drive pipeline segment is approximately 4,700 linear feet of 12-inch reclaimed water main. This alignment includes two (2) horizontal directional drills of approximately 104 and 800 horizontal linear feet. The design of this pipeline project has been coordinated with Public Works and reflects the latest design for the roadway. If the roadway design changes in the future and those design changes require deflection of the reclaimed main, those deflections will be completed by in-house resources.

This project is partially funded by Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). SWFWMD is providing 50% funding for this project.

Based on successful reference checks, the Utilities Department recommends award of Contract 2018-02 to E.T. MacKenzie of Florida, Inc. in the amount of $421,916.25 plus a 10% contingency amount of $42,192, for a to...
