TITLE: Discussion, and possible action to award funds from the Special Event Assistance Program to the Early Bird Kiwanis in the amount of $675.00 to cover the cost of renting the McKibben Park pavilion, garbage and recycling fees, and the cost for property maintenance services for the June16, 2018, Children's Fishing Tournament and Clinic.
Recommended Action
Approve the Early Bird Kiwanis request for funding assistance through the Special Event Assistance Program in the amount of $675.00 to cover the cost of the cost of renting the McKibben Park pavilion, garbage and recycling fees, and the cost for property maintenance services for the June16, 2018, Children's Fishing Tournament and Clinic.
Background Information
The Special Event Assistance Program was adopted by City Commission on November 25, 2013. The intent of the program is to encourage cultural, educational, environmental and recreational activities in the City and to help provide recovery of costs associated with City services that are needed with a special event.
The Early Bird Kiwanis is requesting funding in the amount of $675.00 to cover the total costs of City services/fees that are associated with this event. The breakdown of the costs are as follows:
? $540.00 - tables/chairs and property maintenance staff (2) staff at 9 hours each @ $30.00/per staff person
? $65.00 - (3) garbage and (3) recycling totes and container delivery
? $70.00 - Rental of McKibben Park Pavilion
The Early Bird Kiwanis Fishing Tournament and Clinic will teach children the basics of environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills, and safety. Additional activities will include poster coloring, fish tattoos, and a free hotdog lunch.
