TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Funding Options for the Police Department Headquarters Project to Include Review and Reconsideration of Projects in the Approved 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan and Surtax IV Project List and Other Potential Funding Sources for Design and Construction of the Project. 

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Discussion and possible direction regarding funding options for the Police Department Headquarters Project.

 

Background Information

 

The City Manager and staff had planned to bring a discussion to review and reconsider approved projects in the 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan and Surtax IV project list to find potential funding for the Police Department Headquarters Project at the April 1, 2024, Commission Workshop. 

 

During the City Commission Regular Meeting held on March 26, 2024, the Commission approved the following motions:

 

Ø                     Motion:  To amend the April 1, 2024, meeting from a workshop to a special meeting.

 

Ø                     Motion:  To amend the April 1, 2024, agenda to include discussion and possible action regarding funding of the North Port Police Department Headquarters to 100 percent design plan.

 

Ø                     Motion:  To direct the City Manager to work with staff to meet with bond counsel and other external subject matter experts in order to have discussion with possible action on how to structure the payment of the Police Department Headquarters.

 

Pursuant to the Commission’s direction, the existing agenda item has been amended and expanded to include the funding the 100 percent design of the project in the discussion of funding options.
