Recommended Action
Option 1: Approve Ordinance No. 2026-17 and continue to second reading on June 23, 2026.

Option 1: Approve Ordinance No. 2026-17 and continue to second reading on June 23, 2026.
* Pros:
o Updates regulations to align with current practices and interagency emergency response systems and eliminates outdated provisions.
o Provide for limited administrative authority to depart from certain provisions when such departures are in alignment with emergency response system requirements.
o Provide for due process for those aggrieved with addressing decisions.
* Cons: There are no identifiable disadvantages to approving Ordinance No. 2026-17.

o Provides no due process for property owners aggrieved by addressing and property numbering decisions.
o Maintains outdated code language and inconsistencies with current procedures.
Background Information
The City of North Port's street naming and property numbering regulations are codified within the Code of the City of North Port, Florida, Section 70-55 through 70-58.
