Option 1: Approve Resolution No. 2026-R-40.

* Pros: Granting the easements provides Florida Power & Light (FPL) with the legal right to access infrastructure located within City property for as needed operations, repairs and maintenance. Without the easement, FPL will not move forward with connecting the power.
* Cons: There are no foreseeable cons to approving this Resolution.
Option 2: Deny Resolution No. 2026-R-40.
* Pros: There are no foreseeable pros to denying the Resolution.
* Cons: Without an easement, FPL may not have the legal right to enter the property. That can delay routine maintenance or emergency repairs, increasing the risk of outages or system failures.
Background Information
The City of North Port owns a parcel of land acquired for the development of the Utilities Administration and Warehouse Facility ("Utilities Building"). The existing primary power service provided by Florida Power & Light currently runs along a portion of Childrens Way and terminates at the current dead end of the roadway.
Because the Utilities Building site is located further within the parcel, it is necessary to extend the overhead power line along Childrens Way to a point adjacent to the project site.
