Recommended Action
Option 1: Approve the Disposition of Surplus Assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property, (d) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
City Commission Options
Option 1: Approve the Disposition of Surplus Assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property, (d) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
* Pros: Recovers value from aging assets for items going to auction while reducing maintenance costs. Frees up space and resources for all auction and non-auction assets.
* Cons: Staff have not identified any foreseeable consequence to disposal of these assets.
Option 2: Deny the Disposition of Surplus Assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property, (d) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
* Pros: Staff have not identified any foreseeable benefit to retaining these assets.
* Cons: The aging assets retained are either unusable or unreliable, requiring costly repairs, and could divert resources from maintaining new, more efficient assets.
