Background Information
Bridge No. 175001 carries Pan American Boulevard over Retention Ditch No. 226 (R-226) and has experienced frequent erosion issues. Subsequent to the impacts of Hurricane Ian to the City of North Port, this bridge faced additional erosion damage and partially washed-out portions of the approach pavement. There have been several temporary repairs to help stabilize this bridge. However, permanent rehabilitation is necessary to ensure that this structure remains in an acceptable and operational condition. The scope of work included in Contract No. 2025-15 provides this rehabilitation of the structure and installation of approach slabs to mitigate future erosion issues at this location.
Request for Bid (RFB) No. 2025-15 was opened on January 15, 2025. Three bidders, M&J Construction Company of Pinellas County, Southern Road & Bridge, LLC., and Thomas Marine Construction, Inc., responded. Thomas Marine Construction, Inc., was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
