Recommended Action

 

Direction to staff regarding the inclusion of referendum questions related to borrowing authority for infrastructure projects and borrowing authority for the construction of a new North Port Police Department Headquarters on the March 11, 2025, special election ballot.

 

Background Information

 

During its workshop meeting on December 2, 2024, the City Commission discussed the inclusion of referendum questions related to City borrowing authority in the Town of Longboat Key March 11, 2025, special election. During discussion, Commission directed staff to move forward in developing a referendum question to amend the City Charter to allow the City to borrow money for emergency response. 

 

Staff is seeking direction regarding referendum questions related to amending the City Charter granting borrowing authority for infrastructure projects and for the construction of the new Police Department Headquarters project.
