Recommended Action

Approve the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C., and the City of North Port for Police Department personnel to participate in the 2025 Presidential Inauguration Security Task Force.

Background Information

The Metropolitan Police Department is tasked with maintaining the safety of participants and the public during presidential inaugural events. Due to the heightened threat level in the Nation's Capital and ongoing intelligence developments, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C. has sought assistance from the North Port Police Department for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration. This marks the third deployment for the City of North Port Police Department with the Presidential Inauguration Security Task Force. It is a privilege to be repeatedly chosen to offer security services at such a significant and historic event.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) provides the duties and responsibilities of personnel serving as members of the Presidential Inauguration Task Force. The Metropolitan Police Department will arrange and pay for the lodging and ground travel upon arrival. Air travel, per diem, salaries, and overtime payments (consistent with City policies and procedures) will be reimbursed, leaving no financial impact to the City.
