TITLE: A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of North Port, Florida, Renaming Activity Centers 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 and Confirming the Use of Existing Names of Activity Centers 2, 3, and 9 for Marketing Purposes; Providing for Incorporation of Recitals; Providing for Conflicts; Providing for Severability; and Providing an Effective Date.

Recommended Action

Approve Resolution 2024-R-22 as presented.

Background Information

Propose Resolution No. 2024-R-22, directs the City Manager to use the stated Activity Center marketing names indefinitely, effective June 1, 2024, unless or until amendment by a Resolution of the City Commission. Because marketing names may change in the future, the draft Comprehensive Plan and Unified Land Development Code identify Activity Centers by number only. Additionally, as prior resolutions did not include Activity Center 9, Central Parc, and Activity Center 8 has a DMP approval for a project that is named West River Villages, these changes are incorporated in the Resolution.

On December 13, 2022, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2022-R-74 to extend the duration of the direction to the City Manager for temporary marketing of Activity Centers as provided for in Section 2 of Resolution No. 2022-R-25 until June 1, 2024.

At the April 12, 2022, Regular Commission Meeting, Resolution 2022-R-25 was adopted with an expiration date of January 1, 2023.

Resolution 2024-R-22 has been reviewed by the City Attorney's Office and is legally correct as to form.
