Background Information

The Career Source Suncoast Summer Youth Work Program is a grant funded program that gives students in Manatee and Sarasota Counties summer job opportunities within their community while providing employers paid part-time employees.  There is no cost for City participation as an employer in the program as the students will be paid by CareerSource Suncoast through their grant funding.  Eligible students will be interviewed by City staff for hiring and work under the direct supervision of City staff.  Participants will work 30 hours weekly through the month of June 2024.

Multiple Departments have expressed the desire to participate in the program with positions available.  However, CareerSource Suncoast only has two students in south Sarasota County participating in the program.

The Worksite Agreement is effective April 23, 2024, through June 30, 2025, which will allow the City to participate in other programs through CareerSource should opportunities arise.

The Worksite Agreement #PWE2023-16 Career StartUp between Suncoast Workforce Board, Inc., dba CareerSource Suncoast and the City of North Port has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
