Recommended Action
Approve the sole source purchase of replacement public safety radios from Motorola Solutions, Inc in the Amount of $2,415,455.63.
Background Information
In 2014, both North Port Fire Rescue and North Port Police Department completed a mass replacement of 800mhz radios with a planned replacement 10 years later due to wear and tear and end of serviceability from the manufacturer.
North Port Fire and Police worked collectively to research present safety and technology standards to ensure the selected radio replacements aligned with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS). The quote provided is for the replacement of one hundred and forty-three (143) law enforcement radios, ninety-nine (99) fire service radios, radio chargers, batteries, and other ancillary radio equipment and support.
