Recommended Action

Continue Ordinance No. 2023-24 to the October 24, 2023, City Commission Regular Meeting for Second Reading and adoption.

Recommended Action for Second Reading

The City Commission approve and adopt Ordinance No. 2023-24.

Background Information

At the January 11, 2022, and February 1, 2022, City Commission Regular Meetings, and the July 11, 2022, City Commission Workshop, as well as during Workshops discussing the Unified Land Development Code Rewrite, the City Commission provided direction to staff regarding numerous provisions related to parking and storage of vehicles.

Development of an ordinance in response to the Commission's direction was delayed due to multiple issues including significant staff changes, Hurricane Ian, and the Commission's desire to time the adoption of this ordinance with a separate ordinance to amend the Code of the City related to camping.

Ordinance No. 2023-24 incorporates the Commission's consensus direction, complies with applicable Florida Statutes, and has been reviewed to ensure consistency with the proposed Unified Land Development Code. The City Attorney has reviewed the ordinance and determined it is correct as to form.

Information for Second Reading

On September 12, 2023, the subject petition was presented to the City Commission and was passed by a vote of 4-1 to move forward to second reading on September 26, 2023.
