Background Information
At the July 27, 2021, City Commission Regular Meeting and the July 11, 2022, City Commission Workshop, the City Commission provided direction to staff regarding numerous provisions related to camping and lodging out of doors.
Development and presentation of an ordinance in response to the Commission's direction was delayed due to multiple issues, including significant staff changes, Hurricane Ian, and the Commission's desire to time the adoption of this ordinance with a separate ordinance to amend the Code of the City related to parking.
Ordinance No. 2023-23 incorporates the Commission's consensus direction, complies with applicable Florida Statutes, and has been reviewed to ensure consistency with the proposed Unified Land Development Code. The City Attorney has reviewed the ordinance and determined it is correct as to form.
Information for Second Reading
On September 12, 2023, the subject ordinance was presented to the City Commission for first reading and was voted unanimously with a vote of 5-0 to move forward to second reading on September 26, 2023.
