TITLE:                     Approve the City of North Port 2024 State and Federal Legislative Priorities

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the City of North Port 2024 State and Federal Legislative Priorities.

 

Background Information

 

The City of North Port monitors State and Federal legislation throughout the year to identify funding and other opportunities to ensure that the needs of the community are met.  The City Commission reviews and adopts legislative priorities in preparation for the State and Federal Legislative sessions. 

 

At its Workshop on September 5, 2023, the North Port City Commission discussed the draft 2024 State and Federal Legislative Priorities.  While no changes to the federal priorities were discussed, there was consensus to make the following revision to the State Priorities:

 

                     On the first item under Affordable Housing change language so it the item reads: Supports all initiatives and incentive to support affordable housing projects that do not preempt commercial land uses.

 

The directed change has been made to the 2024 State Legislative priorities and both the State and Federal Priorities are being brough to Commission for approval.
