Approve the Law Enforcement ISO ClaimSearch Access Memorandum of Understanding between the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the City of North Port, Florida, on behalf of the North Port Police Department, for access to information related to insurance crime and fraud at no cost to the City of North Port, Florida.

Background Information

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated exclusively to fighting insurance fraud and vehicle theft crimes. The organization gathers and shares information from its variety of members as a means to prevent and deter insurance fraud and vehicle theft. It also provides information resulting in thousands of vehicle recoveries and investigative leads a year.

The North Port Police Department (NPPD) will use the ISO ClaimSearch platform to improve the speed and effectiveness of investigations. It will also allow NPPD to stay on top of trending events and will further assist with achieving the goals of public safety and security in the City of North Port.

Either party may terminate the MOU by providing thirty (30) days written notice to the other party. Otherwise, the MOU will remain in effect unless there is a material breach by NPPD of its obligations under the agreement.

The Memorandum of Understanding has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
