TITLE: Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Processing and Distribution of Letters of Support Received by the City Commission
Recommended Action
To authorize individual City Commissioners and/or City Staff, on behalf of an individual Commissioner to forward letters of support or like items that were previously discussed and voted on by the City Commission to outside entities that may benefit from the information provided.
Background Information
On June 13, 2023, City Commission approved staff drafting a letter requesting support, financial assistance, and a long-term plan to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the four identified items, provided to all Commissioners and respective staff, and to be signed by the Mayor.
There was no follow up direction provided regarding after the letter is received. It has been questioned as to whether the letter will be forwarded to Charlotte County and their MPO.
Establishing this guideline will allow for every letter received not to be brought back on an agenda for further direction and allow for individual Commissioners to forward the information as they see fit.
