Background Information

The City of North Port is susceptible to disasters that could impact government leadership, facilities, transportation, communications, and other infrastructure or personnel resources, impeding the ability of the City of North Port to operate.  The 2023 Continuity of Government Plan (COG) addresses the hazards that may interfere with essential government functions and establishes a framework to ensure government operations can continue or be reconstituted as quickly as possible after a disaster.

Items the COG addresses include lines of succession for essential City leadership, alternate Seats of Government, and maintenance of vital records.  COG maintenance, trainings, and exercises are also addressed to ensure effective execution of the plan.
