Background Information
As part of an ongoing maintenance program to avoid sewer overflows and correct deficiencies in the wastewater collection system, the City of North Port Utilities cleans and televises gravity wastewater mains. During the inspection process, debris is collected from the lines and disposed in drying beds. The city currently uses City of Venice and Charlotte County to dispose of the debris. Those entities have recently asked North Port Utilities to stop bringing debris to them.
The City of North Port is seeking to secure the services of an experienced, professional, licensed, and qualified Contractor capable of providing construction services in accordance with the specifications and drawings to construct the SWWRF Sludge Drying Bed in its entirety.
The following provides a chronological order of events regarding the competitive sealed bid process for this project:
> April 4, 2023: RFB No. 2023-35 - Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (SWWRF) Sludge Drying Bed Project was advertised.
> May 8, 2023: Two bids were received and opened.
> Staff reviewed the bids and the lowest, responsive bidder, C&T Contracting Services LLC was determined to be qualified by the Project Engineer of Record, Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc.
> May 21, 2023: Notice of Intent to Award RFB No. 2023-35 to C&T Contracting Services LLC was issued.
