TITLE:                     Approve the First Amendment to Traffic Enforcement Agreement With the West Villages Improvement District for Traffic Enforcement Services on Additional District Roads.

Recommended Action

Approve the First Amendment to Traffic Enforcement Agreement with the West Villages Improvement District for Traffic Enforcement Services on Additional District Roads.

Background Information

In February 2020 the West Villages Improvement District (WVID) and City of North Port entered into a Traffic Enforcement Agreement which operates to provide the North Port Police Department (NPPD) with authority to exercise jurisdiction and enforce the State Uniform Traffic Code provisions over roads owned by the WVID. The current Agreement does not include any recently constructed roads owned by the WVID.

This First Amendment is at the request of John Luczynski, WVID Chairman. It adds the following newly constructed roads to the Traffic Enforcement Agreement:

1.                     Wellen Park Boulevard

2.                     Market Way

3.                     Springtide Way

4.                     Sunglow Boulevard

5.                     Radiant Way

All other terms and conditions remain the same, and the Agreement continues to renew annually for one-year terms.

The First Amendment to Traffic Enforcement Agreement with the West Villages Improvement District for Traffic Enforcement Services on Additional District Roads has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
