Background Information
The following provides a chronological order of events pertinent to the damaged gymnasium hardwood floor at the Morgan Family Community Center:
> September 2022: As a result of water intrusion from Hurricane Ian, the Morgan Family Community Center gymnasium hardwood floor was damaged. Although attempts were made to dry out the padding and remove the excessive moisture from the boards, the flooring could not be restored.
> October 26, 2022: It was determined by insurance adjusters that a full replacement of the floor and padding would be required.
> November 29, 2022: A quote for budgetary purposes was obtained on, which encompassed all costs associated with the replacement of the gymnasium floor to accommodate three basketball courts and two volleyball courts. The budgetary estimate exceeded the formal bid threshold requirements; therefore, the Parks and Recreation Department prepared a Request for Bid (RFB), which was advertised on February 20, 2023.
> March 30, 2023: Two (2) bids were opened by the City's Purchasing Division of the Department of Finance. The City received bids from Athletic Resources, Inc. for $169,000 and SSE and Associates, Inc. for $179,000.
