TITLE: Approve the First Amendment to Agreement No. 2021-17 for Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for City of North Port Police Department Facilities Extending the Scheduled Programming Phase, in the Amount of $22,390.00, for a Total Contract Price of $257,800.00.

Recommended Action

Approve the First Amendment to Agreement No. 2021-17 - Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for City of North Port Police Department Facilities extending the scheduled programming phase, in the amount of $22,390.00, for a total contract price of $257,800.00.

Background Information

On April 12, 2022, the parties entered into Agreement No. 2021-17 Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for City of North Port Police Department Facilities for architectural/engineering and construction administration services for the renovation of the existing North Port Police Department facility and design of the new Emergency Operations Center ("EOC"), 911, evidence facility. On March 2, 2023, Commission directed staff to begin environmental evaluations on selected parcels, including geo-technical testing which was originally scheduled to occur during Phase II of the project.

The amendment will extend the schedule associated with the programming phase. The extended schedule, largely due to the limited availability of staff following the impacts of Hurricane Ian, will result in additional staff meetings and travel above those contemplated in the original agreement. Therefore, an amendment to the original agreement is necessary to assign fees to the work.

The amendment has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
