1. Call to Order  
Chair Scheidel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

5. Approval of Minutes  
Approval of Minutes for the December 16, 2021 Parks and Recreation  
Advisory Board Meeting

motion was made by Board Member Murphy, seconded by Board Member  
Stevens, to approve the Minutes as presented. The motion carried on the following

Ms. Wisner introduced Ms. Sturgess.  
Ms. Sturgess provided an overview of her background and experience.  
6. New Business  
Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Apps to Promote Park  
Information  
Chair Sheidel announced the item.  
Discussion took place regarding tabling the item for next month, staff working on owning  
information within Google Maps, the current park finder app, and amenable components  
for lightning alerts.  
There was consensus to continue this item to the next available meeting.  
Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Updates to the Existing Canine  
Club as per Capital Improvement Project  
Chair Scheidel announced the item.  
Discussion took place regarding the available funds for the existing dog park, stipulations  
regarding additional materials, implementing community involvement, fencing quotes,  
modifying large dog side, improving the water fountain, and breaking concrete by the large  
dog entrance.  
Discussion and Possible Action to Elect a Chair for 2022  
Chair Scheidel announced the item.  
Discussion took place regarding continuing this item until all board members are present.  
There was consensus to continue this item to the next available meeting.  
Discussion and Possible Action to Elect a Vice-Chair for 2022  
Chair Scheidel announced the item.  
Discussion took place regarding continuing this item until all board members are present.  
There was consensus to continue this item to the next available meeting.  
Discussion and Possible Action to Nominate a Representative to Serve as  
the North Port Representative on the Parks and Recreation Council.  
Chair Scheidel announced the item.  
Discussion took place regarding the council's meeting schedule and location, and  
continuing this item until all board members are present.  
There was consensus to continue this item to the next available meeting.  
Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Theme for the Poinsettia  
Festival for 2022.  
Chair Scheidel announced the item.  
Ms. Wisner spoke to the "Save the Date" notifications, staff recommendations, explained  
the voting process, and requested Board nominations for the theme.  
Discussion took place regarding tabling the item to be discussed at the next available  
meeting.  
The first round of voting ended with Board Member Stevens voting for #20 "Winter Nights  
and Magical Lights" as the theme, Board Member Murphy voting for #8 "It's a Wonderful  
North Port Life" as the theme, which was seconded by Chair Scheidel, and Board  
Member Parsotan voting for #6 "Holiday Adventure" as the theme.  
The second round of voting ended with Board Members Stevens and Murphy, and Chair  
Scheidel voting for #8 "It's a Wonderful North Port Life", and Board Member Parsotan  
voting for #20 "Winter Nights and Magical Lights".  
The nomination of "It's a Wonderful North Port Life" for the 2022 Poinsettia Parade  
theme carried on the following vote:

7. Updates  
Tricia Wisner: Update Regarding Upcoming Events  
Ms. Wisner spoke to upcoming events including Newcomers Day, Learn to Swim  
lessons, Little League opening day, Woofstock, Say I Do Again, Kids’ Night Out, and  
Movies on the Green.  
Tricia Wisner: Update on Weather Alert System at the North Port Aquatic  
Center  
Ms. Wisner provided an update including funding options and a possible purchase date in  
August.  
Tricia Wisner: Update on Poll for the New Veterans Memorial Park  
Ms. Wisner provided an update including the park name poll results and conceptual draft  
design being presented to Commission on February 1.  
Discussion took place regarding the park name submitted by North Port High School and  
board recommendations.  
Board Member Hersh: Update Regarding the January 2022 Parks and  
Recreation Council (PARC) Meeting  
There was consensus to continue this item to the next available meeting.  
Tricia Wisner: Review of Parks & Recreation's Social Media Metrics for  
December 2021  
Ms. Wisner spoke to social media involvement.

Recreation's Monthly Report for  
Ms. Wisner spoke to increasing attendance at Warm Mineral Springs and the Aquatic  
Center, and an influx within recreation department.  
8. Future Agenda Items  
Future agenda items include election of Board Chair and Vice-Chair, nominating  
a
representation to serve as the North Port Representative on the Parks and Recreation  
Council, update on an app to promote park information, update regarding the January  
2022 Parks and Recreation Council meeting, annual goals, and the annual report to the  
Board.
