TITLE:                     Approve the Interlocal Agreement Relating to Trespass Authority for County Owned Parks and Facilities Located Within the City of North Port By and Between Sarasota County, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the Interlocal Agreement Relating to Trespass Authority for County Owned Parks and Facilities Located Within the City of North Port By and Between Sarasota County, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida.

 

Background Information

 

Sarasota County owns and maintains several parks and libraries located in the City of North Port. Both recognize that visitors and employees at these properties would benefit from an increased level of law enforcement activity to prevent trespassing and other illegal activities on County property. The Interlocal Agreement Relating to Trespass Authority for County Owned Parks and Facilities Located Within the City of North Port By and Between Sarasota County, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida, gives authorization for North Port Police Department Law Enforcement Officers to issue trespass warnings on behalf of Sarasota County.

 

Exhibits A and B of the Interlocal Agreement identify the following specific County owned parks and libraries applicable to this Interlocal Agreement:

The terms of the Interlocal Agreement also allow the Sarasota County Administrator and the North Port City Manager to amend or supplement, by written Agreement, the list of properties on Exhibits A and B without formal amendment. This Interlocal Agreement will remain in effect until terminated in writing by either Party.

 

The Interlocal Agreement Relating to Trespass Authority for County Owned Parks and Facilities Located Within the City of North Port By and Between Sarasota County, Florida and the City of North Port, Florida, has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
