Adopt Resolution Number 2020-R-19 of the City of North Port, Florida, Authorizing the City Manager or Designee to Execute and Submit Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) and Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Grant Applications and All Related Documents.
Background Information
City staff is preparing applications for two Community Development Block Grant opportunities through the Florida Department of Economic Development - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and Mitigation (CDBG-MIT). Neither program require matching funds.
The Disaster Recovery program was made available as a result of Hurricane Irma. Staff has identified two projects meeting the minimum criteria based on damage sustained by Hurricane Irma and benefits low to moderate income areas:
* Bypass Pumps on Lift Stations: $650,440
* Inflow and Infiltration: $1,150,000
The Mitigation program was made available after several state disasters. The request for applications is being announced in three phases on a revolving schedule. The first is critical facility hardening (released April 15th), the second is planning (released May 15th), and the third is infrastructure (being released June 15th). Additional funding programs may be announced at a future date. As each program is released, staff is assessing the minimum criteria, Strategic Plan, low to moderate income impact and project priorities to determine which projects should be pursued.
