The Department of Public Works is seeking approval to purchase the latest model of an Amphi-King Amphibious Work Platform/Vehicle.  The Amphibious Work Platform/Vehicle will be utilized by the Operations and Maintenance Division staff to access and perform work in waterways and areas inaccessible with traditional equipment. The Amphibious Work Platform/Vehicle includes several work tool attachments, providing the ability to perform the following tasks:

 

Ø                     Cut back invasive vegetation from the waterway banks.

Ø                     Remove the cut vegetation from waterways.

Ø                     Remove waterway blockages such as trees and sand bars which will improve the function of the stormwater drainage system.

 

Request for Bid No. 2019-33, Amphibious Vehicle/Vehicle was advertised on April 17, 2019.  One responsive bid submittal was received, opened and read on May 17, 2019.  Staff reviewed the bid submittal and determined that the bidder was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.  Based on this information, the Department of Public Works recommends approval to Award Request for Bid No. 2019-33 to Weedoo Greenboat, Inc.

 

Weedoo Greenboat, Inc. originally submitted a total bid amount of $299,514 which included a stainless-steel upgrade package and all vehicle attachment options. Staff reviewed the options and selected the necessary attachments and finish, bringing the total purchase amount to $253,214. The stainless-steel upgrade package and the Tee Cutter Bar attachment have not been selected for award.

 

Strategic Plan

 

Infrastructure- Develop and maintain the City’s roads, bridges, storm water drainage, and water ways with creative infrastructure funding mechanisms; promote multimodal transportation opportunities throughout the City.

 

Financial Impact

 

Funding in the amount of $253,214 is budgeted in account number 107-5000-541-64.00, Road and Drainage Machinery and Equipment.

 

Procurement

 

The Amphibious Vehicle was procured utilizing the competitive sealed request for bids process pursuant to Section 2-404 of the City of North Port Procurement Code.
