TITLE: Grant application to the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund in an amount of $2,842,410 for the installation of water and sewer line on Sumter Boulevard from south of Hansard Avenue to Kalish Avenue
Recommended Action
Approve submittal of finalized grant application to the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund in an amount of $2,842,410 for the installation of water and sewer line on Sumter Boulevard from south of Hansard Avenue to Kalish Avenue and authorize the Mayor to sign the application.
Background Information
City staff is pursing alternative funding sources to install a two-mile expansion of City water and sewer service on Sumter Boulevard from south of Hansard Avenue to Kalish Avenue, just north of the I-75 Sumter Boulevard exit 182 interchange, to encourage and attract business development to the properties surrounding the interchange and provide future water and sewer service to residential properties. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Florida Job Growth Grant Fund supports public infrastructure projects needed to encourage economic development.
The application cycle opened July 1, 2019. The Mayor’s signature is required for the submittal of this application. The application will be submitted as soon as it is completed and signed. Funds are awarded on a rolling basis, and if the application is selected for award, the grant funding would arrive prior to July 1, 2020.
If awarded, the contract will come before City Commission for approval.
