TITLE:                     Grant application to the Gulf Coast Community Foundation in an amount of $5,500 for the repair of the Mandalas for World Peace Sculpture

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve grant application to the Gulf Coast Community Foundation in an amount of $5,500 for the repair of the Mandalas for World Peace Sculpture, and authorize the City Manager to approve the funding agreement should the grant be awarded.

 

Background Information

 

As instructed by Commission on March 19, 2019, City staff is seeking alternative funding sources for the Mandalas for World Peace sculpture located at Warm Mineral Springs. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation provides matching funds to projects considered a public benefit to the community. 

 

The total projected cost of the sculpture restoration is $11,000. The City has requested half of the amount, $5,500, from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

 

The application deadline was June 30, 2019. The application was submitted on May 24, 2019. 

 

If awarded, funds will be available before October 1, 2019. The City Attorney will review the contract for legal form.

Financial Impact

 

$11,000 will be budgeted in the fiscal year 2020 budget.  Any grant funds received will help offset City funds.
