TITLE: Proclamation for City Government Month
Recommended Action
Present a proclamation recognizing October 2017 at City Government Month.
Background Information
Each year, the Florida League of Cities designates a week in October as City Government Week. Traditionally, the City of North Port celebrates all month long with various outreach activities in the community, including tours of City facilities and guest speakers in each of the schools. The focus of the campaign is to get people to engage civically with their local government.
This year’s activities will include tours of City Hall campus to local students and a special mock City Commission meeting program with North Port High School’s Student Government organization.

Financial Impact
The Communications Division budgets for City Government Month activities as part of its promotional budget. In Fiscal Year 2017, the Communications Division has budgeted $750 for this event.
