Background Information
Ms. Lisa Kersey was a former City employee in the Public Works Department for ten years. Ms. Kersey had been battling a brain tumor for 8 years.
On November 4, 2016, at approximately 3:00 a.m., David Grandt called 911 to assist his girlfriend who was very ill and needed emergency medical treatment. When the medical team of the North Port Fire Station 85 arrived, Ms. Lisa Kersey was unresponsive. However, shortly after assessing her condition and providing medical attention, Ms. Kersey was responsive. Once stabilized, the medical team transported Ms. Kersey to the Sarasota Memorial Emergency Room and Health Care Center in North Port. After examinations by the Emergency Room Doctor, Ms. Kersey was then airlifted by BayFlight to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota. Within a couple of hours, Ms. Kersey was deemed to be in critical condition and was then airlifted to the Tampa Bay General Hospital. Ms. Kersey spent the next couple of days in the Intensive Care Unit and unfortunately then passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016.
David Grandt and Juliana Bellia, would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude with the presentation of a plaque to Lieutenant Eric Tiefenthaler, Paramedic Tanya Schultz, EMT Adam De Vaney and EMT Anthony Morandi for their life saving efforts to Ms. Kersey.
