FROM: Peter D. Lear, CPA, CGMA, Interim City Manager
TITLE: Proclamation for April 2017 as Water Conservation Month
Recommended Action
None.
Background Information
Historically, April is one of the driest months of the year in Florida. Water demands are most acute, which raises the public’s awareness of water resources and water conservation issues. State and local entities throughout Florida along with Florida’s Water Management Districts, are working together to increase awareness about the importance of water conservation. Water conservation education of our citizens through various programs and special events that save Florida’s precious water resources are critically important activities, which the City of North Port has always encouraged and supported. Every business, industry, school, and citizen can make a difference when it comes to conserving water, and thus promoting a healthy economy and community.
This Proclamation recognizes April, 2017 as Water Conservation Month and calls upon all citizens to use water conservation practices in their daily lives to keep the City of North Port sustainable for future generations to follow.
Tara Poulton, Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) Governmental Affairs Program Manager, will accept the Proclamation.
