Recommended Action
Approve utilization of the City of Tallahassee Florida Contract with Dana Safety Supply to purchase and install emergency vehicle associated equipment and graphics in eighteen (18) Police vehicles for the Police Department in the amount of $234,015.47 with an additional $6,300 contingency for a total budgeted amount of $240,315.47.
Background Information
Through replacements and new purchases, the Police Department will have 18 vehicles needing to be up-fitted with the emergency associated equipment and graphics prior to being placed into service. The purchase and installation of this specialized equipment and graphics is best completed by a vendor that specializes in emergency vehicle up-fitting.
Dana Safety Supply has successfully up-fitted 25 vehicles this year and is knowledgeable and experienced in the specific needs of the Police Department. The North Port Police Department and Fleet Management are recommending the use of the City of Tallahassee Contract #1489 with Dana Safety Supply that was competitively bid to purchase and install the emergency vehicle equipment in the Police vehicles. Vehicle graphics will be supplied by Dana Safety Supply as they are the creator and maintainer of the graphics file. Other items, such as computers, are already assigned to the officers and vehicles and are not part of this purchase.
