Recommended Action

Approve the purchase of two 2018 Freightliner M2 replacement ambulances from REV RTC, Inc. for a budgeted cost of $529,334.

Background Information

City Commission approved $619,500 in the FY 2017-18 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) the purchase of two replacement ambulances. Last fiscal year, Fire Rescue utilized the Florida Sheriff's Association bid to enter into a three-year contract with REV RTC, Inc. for the purchase of replacement ambulances. We are now in the second year of the term and are proposing the purchase of two vehicles under the same terms and conditions, with a price adjustment based upon the terms of the contract.

The cost for the two 2018 Freightliner M2 ambulances is $529,334. This figure includes a multi-vehicle discount of $24,000. The price is based on dealer cost for the vehicle and equipment plus 8% as authorized in the contract. The anticipated delivery of the vehicles is approximately 180 days from the date of order. We anticipate additional expenses totaling less than $25,000 for the purchase and/or installation of ancillary equipment which will be issued under separate purchase orders from this project.

Vehicle and capital equipment replacement is determined through a combination of mileage, age, hours and efficiency, as well as changing industry standards. In FY 2018, CID numbers 71614 and 71478 are tentatively scheduled to be replaced.
