TITLE: Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council (SWFRPC)
Recommended Action
Discussion to determine if the Commission wants to continue representation at the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council’s meetings.
Background Information
In November, 2016, Commissioner McDowell became the Commission’s representative to the SWFRPC. In January, 2017, Sarasota County sent official notice withdrawing from the SWFRPC. Since January, Lee County sent a similar letter and Charlotte County is considering following suit.
In the past 6 months, reaching a quorum for the meeting has become a daunting task. During the past, few meetings there has been a lot of discussion about the Regional Planning Council’s role and value.
