TITLE: Disposition of surplus assets by an appropriate fashion per Chapter 2 Article VII Sec. 2-419 (d) of the City Code set forth in F.S. 274.06

Recommended Action

Approve the disposition of surplus assets.

Background Information

In compliance with Ordinance No. 06-29, the attached items are presented for disposition in a manner consistent with Chapter 2 Article VIII Sec. 2-419 (d) of the City Code "Assets with an original purchase value greater than the threshold limit set for in F.S. 274.06, must receive City Commission approval for disposal and may then be disposed of by offering the assets to other public entities, selling the assets, discarding the assets or donating the assets." City staff has prepared for Commission consideration a list of assets to be disposed and the recommended method of disposal.

The vehicles being disposed of have been evaluated with the rest of the City's fleet. No other vehicles scheduled for disposal this year are in better condition.

The City has received a request from the Springfield Police Department Chief of Police J. Philip Thorne for the City of North Port to donate a vehicle suitable for a K9 program. Fleet has evaluated the Chevy Tahoe that is included in the attached disposal form as being suitable for this donation.

Donated. Surplus assets determined to have no useful purpose for the city yet still containing some intrinsic value may be donated by the city commission to a nonprofit agency or governmental agency.

Strategic Plan

Financially responsible city providing quality municipal services.

Financial Impact
