TITLE: Interagency Agreement Between the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and the City of North Port.
Recommended Action
Approve the Interagency Agreement Between the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and the City of North Port.
Background Information
Pursuant to Chapter 30, Florida Statutes, the Sheriff is authorized to charge fees for official services performed by the Sheriff's Office. Providing a firing range for use by law enforcement agencies is an official service and fees for such use may be charged in accordance with this agreement.
The City of North Port is an authorized law enforcement agency and desires to utilize the firing range services of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office (SSO). The SSO is willing to provide such a service so long as all applicable rules and regulations are strictly complied with. Any non-compliance with the terms of this Agreement concerning the use of the firing range may be grounds for the SSO to terminate this Agreement and prohibit the North Port Police Department staff from using the Range.
This agreement is a revision to the existing agreement dated back as recently as 2005 and is also attached. There is a $5.00 per person per hour charge to utilize the facility, to be invoiced by the SSO, which has also been in effect since 2005.
Approved as to form and correctness by the City Attorney.

Financial Impact
The fees stipulated in the attached agreement of $5 per person per hour are the current fees charged for sworn officer qualification and were approved by Commission in the FY 2017 Adopted Budget.
