Recommended Action

 

Approval of Traffic Signal Maintenance and Compensation Agreement Exhibit A between the City of North Port and the Florida Department of Transportation for FY 2019-2020.

 

Background Information

 

Annually, the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) provides a lump sum payment to the City of North Port for the maintenance of traffic signals on U.S. 41.  In accordance with the original Agreement, the City of North Port will be responsible for maintaining the traffic signals at the following intersections:

 

                     U.S. 41 and Salford Boulevard

                     U.S. 41 and Sumter Boulevard

                     U.S. 41 and Home Depot Entrance

                     U.S. 41 and Tuscola Boulevard

                     U.S. 41 and North Port Boulevard

                     U.S. 41 and Pan American Boulevard

                     U.S. 41 and Biscayne Drive

                     U.S. 41 and Galleria Boulevard /Corrandino Boulevard (new)

                     U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway (new)

 

For the period July 1, 2019, - June 30, 2020, the City will receive $44,865 for maintenance, a $11,071 increase over last year due, in part, to the addition of two new traffic signals.  The following provides a history and estimate of revenues and expenditures for maintenance and payment of electricity bills:

 

July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019:

 

Revenues: $33,794.00

Expenditures: $23,739.00 (estimated)

 

July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020:

 

Revenues: $44,865.00

Expenditures: $28,550.00 (estimated)

 

The City Attorney has reviewed this Agreement for legal form.

Financial Impact

 

The District will record the revenue of $44,865 with estimated expenditures of $28,550 to be budgeted for in the Agreement.
