TITLE:                     Agreement with Comcast Enterprise Services for a three-year term in the amount of $43,200.

Recommended Action

Approve Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Comcast Enterprise Services for a three-year term in the amount of $43,200.

Background Information

The City of North Port Police Department currently has Comcast Internet services.  The current pricing structure does not afford internet speeds that are fast enough to handle the additional bandwidth that is required for the day to day functions of the Police Department. With the addition of the body cameras that require upload & downloads speeds for the video files to upload the cloud storage as well as evidence review, the current bandwidth would not be able to handle the increase and would cause communications issues and delays.

This new contract is for a greater bandwidth for uploads and downloads.  The quote from Comcast was less expensive and two (2) years shorter in duration than the quote received from Frontier.  In addition, the City of North Port already has Frontier, and for redundancy purposes the NPPD relies on that connection when our connection is down.  With two different internet providers (Comcast - NPPD and Frontier City of North Port) provides for greater redundancy that is critical in the public safety arena.

The agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form and correctness by the City Attorney’s Office.

Strategic Plan

Maintained/Upgraded/Expanded City Infrastructure.

Financial Impact

The total cost of the agreement is $43,200, which will come from budgeted funds in the Police Department budget within the General Fund. The charge is $1,200 per month, so each year the breakdown would be $14,400.
