Recommended Action

 

Accept the Season of Sharing funds in the amount of $25,000 and authorize the City Manager to execute the grant contract #20193739 from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

 

Background Information

 

This will be the sixteenth award of Season of Sharing funds that North Port Social Services has received through the Community Foundation of Sarasota County since 2007. The funds are utilized to assist families and individuals experiencing an unforeseen financial crisis. Funds may be used for a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to, first month rent, past due rent, mortgage payment, utility payments, and utility deposits, etc. Additional needs may include, clothing for adults to gain employment, required work tools to begin or maintain permanent employment.

 

Season of Sharing funds are to be used as “last resort” when other regular funding sources have been exhausted. Grant contract #20193739 from the Foundation sets out the conditions of accepting the grant, which will be administered through the Social Services Division.

 

The last grant received was Contract #20191128.
