Recommended Action

Approve utilization of the State of Florida Department of Management Services Motor Vehicles Contract #25100000-16-1 to purchase one (1) Ford CMax and one (1) Ford F-150 in the budgeted amount of $49,717.90 for the Public Works Department, Operations and Maintenance Division.

Background Information

The Public Works Department, Operations Division is replacing one 2005 Ford F-150 (CID 70491) with a Ford CMax and one 2006 Ford F-150 (CID 70581) with a Ford F-150 4WD extended cab. The CMax will be used primarily for administration purposes and the F-150 will be used by the Operations & Maintenance Manager. Both vehicles will be utilized for transporting multiple employees, with the CMax being a more efficient substitute for an SUV and the F-150 heavily used in the field.

Garber Ford Inc. is an approved vendor under the State of Florida Department of Management Services Motor Vehicles Contract. This contract is made available to local governments and municipal Police and Fire departments within the State for vehicle and equipment acquisition. Using this cooperative bid, local government agencies are able to obtain competitive pricing. Local government agencies have the flexibility to choose a product or service according to the business needs, such as price, warranty, supplier performance or brand name.

While City ordinance authorizes the City Manager to utilize piggyback agreements, the City Manager's policy requires all agreements exceeding $100,000 to be presented to Commission for consideration. All appropriate forms, procedures and processes have been reviewed b...
