Background Information

The Joint Funding Agreement for Water Discipline provides for the annual monitoring and maintenance of a data collection program within the City of North Port for the following two gauges for precipitation and water levels within canals, waterways, and creeks:

1.                     Myakkahatchee Creek adjacent to the Water Treatment Plant at North Port Boulevard.

2.                     Myakkahatchee Creek adjacent to Tropicaire Boulevard.

The information acquired from the data collection program is utilized to monitor water flow and potential flooding conditions within the City.

The total operating cost for the year of data collection is $25,300.00.  The City of North Port’s share will be $14,400.00, with the USGS assuming the remaining $11,300.00.
