Recommended Action

Approve the Utilization of the State of Florida Department of Management Services Motor Vehicle Contract to purchase one (1) Ford F-150 Pickup Truck for the Fire Rescue District from Garber Auto Mall in the amount of $27,727.80.

Background Information

In the FY 2016-17 Fire Rescue budget, Commission has approved a new position of Fire Plans Examiner/Inspector. The newly-created position's role will be to perform plans review and function in the role of fire inspector conducting construction inspections or other duties as needed. This position is fully-funded under the Fire Rescue District. In addition to the position, Commission authorized a Capital Improvement Plan project, F17VEH, in the amount of $32,500.00, funded from Fire Rescue Impact Fees, for the purchase of a vehicle to be assigned to this employee for official business.

The quoted cost for the truck is $27,727.80. Additional equipment and graphics to place this vehicle into service will be procured under a separate purchase order for approximately $2,000.00 but will remain under the approved CIP budget of $32,500.00. The anticipated delivery of the vehicle is approximately 80-120 days from the date of order.

Garber Auto Mall is an approved vendor under the State of Florida Department of Management Services Motor Vehicle Contract number 25100000-16-1. This contract is made available to units of local government and municipal Police and Fire departments within the state for capital vehicle acquisition.
