North Port City boundaries serves as a connection between Sarasota County and Charlotte County. The City continuously works with both counties on issues and opportunities relating to multi-model transportation, water, stormwater, and other matters that are not confined to jurisdictional boundaries. This regional collaboration is an important part of enhancing the quality of life for our residents and economic growth of our city.
The last City Commission joint meeting with the Sarasota County Commission was held in September 2016. This item is presented to provide direction for reaching out to the Sarasota County Commission to schedule a joint meeting as soon as possible for topics relevant to current and potential projects such as Legacy Trail, Restoration of Three Graces Statute, Warm Mineral Springs, the City's Aquatic Facility, Myakkahatchee Creek Greenway, connectivity to Deer Prairie Creek and or other topics Commissioners may suggest. In addition to consider reaching out to the Charlotte County Commission to schedule a joint meeting with them to discussion relevant issues and opportunities.
