TITLE: Discussion and possible action regarding the North Port Pool/Aquatic Center.
Recommended Action
Discussion and possible direction. If the Commission desires to have a discussion on what action we want to take about moving the new pool forward to the next step. Discussion can include, but is not limited to the following topics:
1. Do we want an updated study? Including feasible location(s)?
2. Do we want to hold community meeting(s) to determine the needs and desires of today’s stakeholders for a new pool?
3. Do we want to seek collaborative funding sources?
4. Any other discussion?
5. Any direction to staff?
Background Information
Previous commission held a Workshop on September 29, 2016, a Commission Meeting regarding the maintenance of Dallas White’s Pool which included a brief discussion about the new pool on October 11, 2016 and a Joint Meeting with The Sarasota County Commissioners on September 12, 2016. An Aquatic Facilities Master Plan Study was presented and accepted during the April 12, 2016 Commission Meeting. The budget for FY 2016-2017 has $2,300,000.
