Discussion and possible action

Background Information

We need to establish a ‘system of recording’ for historical places and data.  We have established a City Historical Registry and we need to build a system to be able to utilize it, including someone to oversee it.  This ‘Historical Registry Record’ could be maintained by the Historical and Cultural Advisory Board.  This ‘Record’ would be documentation of Historical Places and Data, and would include ‘mapping’, so that the City Departments could utilize it.  A GIS system could be framed from this Registry, so the staff would have knowledge of these Places and Data prior to scheduling work in those areas. North Port’s Heritage lies within the disappearing places of historical data.  A system to capture and document it would preserve the historical heritage that we have.  This system could be the bridge between the Environmentalist work and the SOP’s of our Departments.
