TITLE: Recognition of the 2018 Solid Waste Association of North America Florida Sunshine Chapter Road-E-O Participants and Winner.
Recommended Action
Recognize participants and winner of the 2018 Solid Waste Association of North America Florida Sunshine Chapter Road-E-O held on May 4, 2018, and May 5, 2018.
Background Information
On May 4, 2018, and May 5, 2018, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Florida Sunshine Chapter held their annual truck driver and mechanics Road-E-O competition in Seminole County, Florida. Solid Waste drivers and Fleet Maintenance mechanics from throughout Florida competed in the event which promoted professionalism, created a spirit of competition, and provided opportunities to refresh skills.
The following employees from the City of North Port Department of Public Works participated in the SWANA Road-E-O:
Mr. Paul Healy, Equipment Operator, Solid Waste Division
Mr. Eliseo Ramirez, Equipment Operator, Solid Waste Division
To compete, participants must have a clean safety record and a satisfactory work attendance record. The event measured the participants skill, knowledge of safety regulations and knowledge of equipment used through a written exam, a CDL pre-test inspection and a driving skills course.
The two incredibly talented drivers represented the City of North Port in the Front Loader Competition and Mr. Paul Healy finished first place in the Front Loader Competition. As the first-place winner, Mr. Healy will now represent the City of North Port and the State of Florida Chapter at the 2018 SWANA International Road-E-O in Colorado on September 22, 2018, courtesy of the Florida Sunshine Chapter.
