Background Information
Request for Bid (RFB) No. 2018-33 was opened on January 22, 2018. Two bidders, Preferred Materials Incorporated and AJAX Paving Industries of Florida, LLC responded. Preferred Materials Incorporated was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The contract will consist of routine road maintenance/rehabilitation involving 45 miles of roads and stormwater improvements at a cost of $4,872,132.98. The work location is in the area located east and west of South Chamberlain Boulevard, from south of Price Boulevard to north of Hillsborough Boulevard. Also included in this contract is the rehabilitation of Price Boulevard from Sumter Boulevard to Toledo Blade Boulevard. Work shall commence on, or immediately after, March 19, 2018, and shall be completed within 255 calendar days after the issuance of the notice to proceed. This contract contains a finish milestone of May 31, 2018, for the West Price Boulevard resurfacing work. The Price Boulevard work shall be performed at night from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to avoid adverse impacts to traffic.
