TITLE: Facilities Management Agreement with Sky Family YMCA for the management and operation of the Al Goll Center

Recommended Action

Approve the Facilities Management Agreement with the Sky Family YMCA for the management and operation of the Al Goll Center

Background Information

In March of 2018, Sarasota County provided written notification exercising their right to terminate Contract No. 2010-505, Facilities Management Agreement, between the County, City of North Port and Sky Family YMCA for the management and operation of the Al Goll Center effective September 30, 2018.

Under this three-party agreement, Sarasota County provided the YMCA with $10,000 annually to defray operational costs of the facility; the City of North Port was responsible for capital improvement repairs and replacements over $5,000; and the Sky Family YMCA was responsible for the daily operations and management of the facility including staffing, equipment and furnishings, utilities and regular maintenance and repairs.

The Sky Family YMCA desires to continue daily operations and management of the Al Goll Center. In order to retain this relationship, a new Facilities Management Agreement between the City and the Sky Family YMCA is required. The City Attorney's office drafted the replacement agreement with additional language to clarify responsibilities of the YMCA, procedures for alterations and improvements, default definitions and remedies, and the process for inspections and reporting.

The City will retain responsibility for capital improvements over $5,000 and the City will not pay an annual stipend to the Sky Family YMCA to defray operation expenses.
